About Collins/Duncombe family tree
Hi, I'm Trevor Collins the webmaster for this site. This is the 4th and latest
effort at creating something that family, friends and likeminded researchers
can delve into and enjoy. All information can be used by other researchers
should there be anything of interest or that can be added to their own trees.
I started this project at my wife's request to trace her family back as far as
I could. I was also aiming to trace my own ancestors, if possible, and that
proved slightly more difficult. I write this description on 5 July 2007 having
started this journey on 12 September 2006. I now have over 10,000 names in the
tree and a few photos of relatives I never knew I had. (Further updated in
November 2007 to include the arrival of our first grandchild Georgia Louise
Peake born 3.11. Pictured at 1 day old. AAAHHH) I will produce another version
of this when I get time and a few more names!
My thanks go to Maureen Martin in Australia and Mike Levon for their
invaluable assistance and work in tracing the Duncombe family back to its
roots in Stisted Essex as well as the colonisation of Tasmania in the mid
1800's!
Through this project I've made contact with cousins I've never met as well as
their offspring, not to mention cousins I haven't seen for 30 or 40 years. One
day I might meet them again in the UK or Australia depending on who visits
where and when. It has been a lot of fun and thanks also go to all those
researchers who have shared information with me. Now I must start putting some
meat on the bare bones of information already to hand.
To anyone who visits this site, welcome, browse and enjoy. If you want to make
any comments, positive or negative, please use the Visitors book on your way
out.
